About Grumpy Nomad Cat

Hi, my name is Marta, but you can call me Em.

โ€‹

Why Grumpy Nomad Cat?

โ€‹

I guess it started from GrumpyJogger — my IG handle. I came up with it because I have been a runner my whole life, and because we Polish people usually have a grumpy disposition and inclination to complain. I also tend to have a lot of opinions, and I am not afraid to say them. (Unless my husband asks me to stop.)

โ€‹โ€‹

Since it's a travel blog, I obviously wanted the name to reflect my love for travel. I have been to 30 countries (at the time of writing), and I lived in 5 — Poland (where I'm from, Cyprus, Iceland, Spain and now Malaysia.) Although I may not be a nomad in a typical sense, I always felt a bit like one. Wandering the world and wondering where I belong...

Why Cat? I have four of them at the moment, and the more time I spend with them, the more I realise that we are quite alike. They all have different characters, of course, but they seem to go through life in a very similar way... Peacefully, on their own, enjoying the company of others only when they feel like it. They may seem distant and not interested at first, but once you get to know them, they turn into those amiable, fluffy balls of joy that may even let you scratch their belly. Also, my spirit animal, as it turns out, is a cat.

So there you go. This is the anatomy and the back story of the Grumpy Nomad Cat - your unique travel guide dedicated to sharing my travel stories, inspiring itineraries, valuable travel tips, and honest reviews.

โ€‹

My goal is to provide engaging content that fuels your wanderlust and helps you plan memorable adventures. With a little bit of grumpiness. ๐Ÿ˜‰โ€‹

What makes me think that I have the ability or knowledge to share travel tips, review places and products or create great itineraries?

โ€‹

I'm not going to pin it on my Bachelor's Degree in Tourism. I don't even remember much from my university, to be honest. But I started to travel the minute I turned 18, in 2007.

This gives me almost 20 years of experience, ranging from living in five different countries, visiting 30 in total (at the time of writing), travelling as a solo woman through Asia, and recently planning itineraries for family holidays in Europe, Asia, North America and Australia.

โ€‹

I have always loved travelling, and I also love to meet and explore new cultures, try different foods (and alcohols!), and share my love for exploration with others.

โ€‹

So welcome to the Grumpy Nomad Cat Blog, where you can see the world through my grumpy, but hopefully funny and entertaining lens.
